Spotlight / From planning to people

Good events create a sense of belonging.

As Communication Club president, I helped transform a small student organization into an active campus community—coordinating events, communicating with members, and creating reasons for people to show up.

  • Membership grew from approximately 10–15 to 60–70.
  • Organized experiences including TopGolf, movie night, and social events.
  • Connected outreach, promotional design, and hands-on coordination.

Selected case studies

01 / Events & activations

Communication Club

The opportunity. Build a more connected and visible student organization at Pacific Union College.

My contribution. As president (2024–2025), I supported club growth through outreach, event planning, member communication, and promotional activities. Experiences included a TopGolf social, a Big Hero Six movie night, and a pool/pizza/ping-pong gathering.

Outcome. Membership grew from approximately 10–15 to 60–70, with TopGolf drawing roughly 54–67 attendees. These figures are approximate rather than audited metrics.

02 / Brand marketing

L&L Hawaiian BBQ

The opportunity. Explore how the Vallejo location could appeal to a broader customer base while maintaining its established identity.

My contribution. Independently authored a 27-page academic marketing plan analyzing target customers, local competition, product positioning, pricing, distribution, and promotion. The plan proposed expanded vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. I also conceptualized and designed an original 15%-off catering promotional poster.

Approach. Developed a customer questionnaire, assessed opportunities for in-store and digital promotion, and proposed community-oriented outreach. The menu expansion and plan are proposals, not documented implementations.

03 / Conceptual brand partnership

VALORANT × Sanrio

The idea. “Cute Meets Competitive”—a hypothetical collaboration between Riot Games' VALORANT and Sanrio.

My contribution. Developed the April 2023 pitch around a character-inspired weapon skin line, gun buddy, audience overlap, potential bundle pricing, and promotional tactics including creator early access, short-form video, and cross-platform graphics.

Strategic lens. Considered representation, fandom, product-market fit, and community excitement. The collaboration was not commissioned or released. Referenced character/skin artwork in the original deck is credited to its respective artists and is not presented as my original illustration.

04 / Crisis & strategic communications

Singapore Airlines

The situation. A classroom strategic-communications response to the May 2024 SQ321 turbulence incident.

Our approach. In a collaborative presentation with Jake Hendricks, mapped stakeholder groups, communication goals, key messages, press and social channels, educational content, and evaluation methods. The strategy emphasized timely updates, passenger support, and rebuilding confidence.

Deliverables. Proposed press-release content, social messaging, safety-video testing, and an action plan. This is an academic analysis, not an official Singapore Airlines response.

A Taste of Change

The opportunity. Address student concerns about cafeteria variety, customization, and satisfaction at Pacific Union College.

My role. Served as marketing analyst on a three-person project team, alongside project manager Christian J. De Jesus and data analyst Campbell Fuller.

The plan. Developed a two-phase student survey approach, feedback incentives, menu recommendations, risk considerations, and project deliverables. The presentation lists targets of 25% higher cafeteria participation and 50% higher satisfaction—these are goals, not verified results.

Revitalizing Irwin Hall

The opportunity. Reimagine an aging academic building with accessibility, technology, and the student experience in mind.

Our approach. With Jazlynn Hardy, presented a SWOT analysis, stakeholder needs, fundraising avenues, a proposed $40 million allocation, and a 12-month implementation sequence.

Important context. The budget, fundraising figures, and renovation timeline are components of an academic proposal—not verified funding raised or construction completed.

07 / PR & crisis writing

Sushi-Licious

The scenario. A fictional restaurant faces serious workplace misconduct allegations and public scrutiny.

My contribution. Independently wrote an eight-page crisis-communications exercise outlining stakeholder concerns, initial response, information channels, prevention measures, and a sample press release.

What it demonstrates. Crisis-message structure, audience-aware communication, and the importance of accountability. The company and events were hypothetical; proposed partnerships were not actual agreements.

College Days: Branding & Goodie Bags

The opportunity. Help create a welcoming, memorable experience for prospective students attending College Days at Pacific Union College.

My role. During my Marketing & Admissions internship, I assisted with College Days planning, designed logos and stickers, helped decide which shirts and promotional goodies to include, and planned and proposed the goodie bag concept.

Hands-on execution. I personally filled and assembled the goodie bags. This was both a creative planning project and an event-preparation responsibility—not Communication Club work.
